A/Prof Doug Forrester is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Clinician Scientist whose practice is built on a simple principle: world-class medicine delivered with genuine care for the person in front of him.

A/Prof Forrester studied Physiology at King’s College London before completing his Bachelor of Medical Sciences, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and PhD at the University of Nottingham. He later held a prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship and spent six months as a Visiting Scholar at Dartmouth College, one of America’s Ivy League universities.
He is currently a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and holds academic appointments with The University of Western Australia, Curtin Medical School and The University of Queensland.
An invited national and international speaker, A/Prof Forrester’s research focuses on respiratory disease biomarkers, AI-driven diagnostic tools and the relationship between psychological wellbeing and chronic lung disease. He holds a patent for novel lung infection biomarkers, and his research has attracted more than $3.5 million in competitive funding.
A/Prof Forrester consults through Access Doctors in Cottesloe on Fridays, with both in-person and telehealth appointments available. He welcomes referrals from across metropolitan Perth, as well as regional and rural patients seeking specialist care via telehealth. His approach combines clinical expertise, emerging research and evidence-based medicine with genuine, personalised care for every patient.
